Privacy Policy
Short version: every time you load a page on this site, we record your IP address, approximate location, network provider, timezone, browser details, the page you visited, where you came from, and the time. We use it for analytics, send it to a private notification channel and a private storage database that only the site owner controls, and delete it from both after 30 days. No cookies, no ads, no selling data.
Who we are
This website is run by Parikh Labs, a one-person software business. Parikh Labs is responsible for the data described here. You can reach us at hello@parikhlabs.com.
What we collect
Each time you load a page (not each image or stylesheet), we automatically record:
- IP address of the device or network you're connecting from.
- Approximate location: city, region, and country, estimated from your IP address by our hosting provider. This is not GPS and is often only accurate to the nearest city or worse.
- Network provider (ISP): the name of the organisation that owns your IP address.
- Timezone, as estimated from your IP address.
- User-agent: the text your browser sends to identify itself, which usually includes the browser, its version, and your operating system.
- Referrer: the address of the page that linked you here, if your browser sends it.
- Path: which page on this site you loaded, including anything after a
?in the address. - Timestamp of the visit, in UTC.
We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, fingerprinting scripts, or third-party analytics. There are no accounts or forms on this site. If you email us, we receive whatever you choose to include in that email.
Why we collect it
For analytics: to understand how many people visit, roughly where they're from, which pages they read, and which links bring them here. We also use it to notice abuse, such as automated scraping or attacks against the site. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not try to identify individual visitors.
For visitors in the EEA and UK, we rely on our legitimate interest in understanding and protecting our own website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time; see "Your rights" below.
Where it goes
Each visit record goes to two places, both controlled only by the site owner. No one else has access to either.
- Discord (live notification). A copy of the record is posted to a private channel on Discord, a third-party messaging platform, so the site owner can see visits as they happen.
- Cloudflare KV (30-day storage). A copy of the record is stored in a private Cloudflare Workers KV database, where it is used for analytics and deleted automatically after 30 days.
The site itself is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare handles every request to deliver the site, and it is the service that estimates location and network from your IP address. Cloudflare and Discord may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Their own privacy policies apply to what they process.
We do not sell, rent, or share this data with anyone else, except where the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
Visit records are kept for up to 30 days in both places. Records in Cloudflare KV are set to expire and are deleted automatically 30 days after the visit. Notifications in the Discord channel are cleared by the site owner at least every 30 days. Apart from these two places, we don't keep visit records anywhere. If you email us, we keep the conversation only as long as we need it to answer you.
Your rights
If you are in the EEA or UK (GDPR / UK GDPR), you can ask us to give you a copy of the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or restrict how we use it, and you can object to our processing it. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
If you are in India (Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you can ask for a summary of the personal data we process about you, ask us to correct or erase it, and raise a grievance with us. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Wherever you are, you're welcome to ask what we hold about you or ask us to delete it.
How to contact us about your data
Email hello@parikhlabs.com with "Privacy request" in the subject line. Because we don't know visitors' names, please include the approximate date and time of your visit and, if you know it, your IP address at the time. That lets us find the right records. We may ask for reasonable information to confirm the request is yours before we release or delete anything. We aim to respond within 30 days.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data about them beyond the automatic visit records described above.
Changes
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
